Since we have discussed water pooling aft - how about forward. I get water in the bow, under the v-birth drawers. It doesn't seem to have a path aft to the main bilge - I haven't found the source yet but suspect it is weeping in from the transducer thru-hulls. I'll address it when I pull the boat in Feb. Even when fixed I suspect I'll occasionally collect water here from cleaning the speed sensor - I looked for limber holes but didn't see any (this is an early Mk1)
Thanks

Les,
My boat is on the hard and we had quite a bit of rain Fri-Sat. I went down Sun to get frame up and found a fair amount of water, right where you mentioned, always have and thought water tank or transducer was the culprit, so something even forward of the transducers is letting water in. I'm suspecting the anchor well some how but not sure.

Anchor well drain is the #1 source of water pooling under the forward drawers.

The anchor locker drain has a short hose running from the bottom of the locker to the thru hull overboard at the boot stripe on the starboard side. This could be cracked or leaking However, if it is disconnected (which happened to me) you'd get A LOT of water coming in on a port tack with the drain hole in the water.

I had to put some 4200 around the exterior of the anchor drain hole in the bow. Leak disappeared.

Leslie, I am not sure if C36 1983 has the windlass at the bow - but on mine, 1999, it leaked into the V-berth from leaky seals of the windlass. It took a while before I could locate the source of the water.
I made a cover from canvas and now I do not have the leak. It was impossible to remove the shaft to replace the seals. No more water in the V-birth.
I wonder if this is the problem you are having.

unfortunately the water is salty -- so while anchor locker may be a source it would only be a contributor. There is no hose on the anchor locker on the older boats. The windlass has been reseated and no longer leaks into the boat. I'll probably end up putting a pump and routing it to either the sink drain or main bilge. Even after I find and take care of the source...

Les,
I would re-bed the transducers with 5200 and skip the pump. Somewhere I had read where someone drilled a small limber hole hole toward the bilge. You will need to lift the forward floor and you will find a small cover which gives you access to the forward keel bolt. Don't believe there is any limber hole to the main bilge but when it overflows it drains to the bilge. I gave this some thought a while back, but decided against it and just occasionally drain the area.

my plan is to pull the depth transducer and glass in the hole. I'll replace what was the speed log with a new thru-hull that has a trap door so I won't get as much water in there. At some point in the past the depth transducer was abandoned, and a new one was installed under the kitchen sink. The new sensor I have is a tri-ducer speed, depth, temp. One less hole in the boat will be a good thing. I'll look at putting in limber holes as described in the tread referenced above.
