Mysto thru-hull

Hi friends,

Can anyone help identify the original purpose of this thru-hull fitting? I first though it was for the holding tank macerator pump, but that has its own, much narrower gauge fitting further inboard.

This is a 1.5" fitting capped with a PVC plumbing cap (which worries the heck out of me). It's located forward of the water heater and under the center dinette bench seat.

Thanks for any wisdom!

I suspect it was the original overboard discharge for the head. I have the exact same thing on my boat. It would allow you to bypass the holding tank with a "Y" valve. If you were offshore for a period of time it might be something of value. Like conserving battery power.
