Mermaid Condensator

I have a 16K Mermaid ac unit. I installed a venturi condensator valve about two years ago from Mermaid and paid about $200.00. It stopped working even though it has been throughly cleaned. Mermaid would do nothing about it. So I found out where they get theirs from. It's only $45.00.

Thanks - I was about to buy this Marvair kit from Defender for $160, but this is packaged with all the tubing and clamps (a $50 value!).  Before it failed, how did yours work?  https://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?path=-1|6880|2061076|2061077|2061085&id=2756613

I have had this condensator on our boat for over 18 years. It works great to remove the condensation coming off the air con..But, it requires some maintenance. Periodically, I clean the strainer in the discharge line off the condensation drop pan. I will also replace the tubing from the strainer to the unit as it becomes quite dirty, as does the back flow preventer in the nipple attachment on the condensator. I actually removed that back flow preventer and added an inline preventer immediately after the strainer. Finally, I did have a small barnacle in the condensator one time. Overall, I would not run out system without a condensator.

Which condensate remover do you have, the Marvair or the Mermaid that True Wind talks about?  Want to know before I install one.  Thx.

When it works it works well. I spoke with Tom at Mermaid and he said that on occasion they will get a condensator in that for what ever reason will not work no matter what you do with it. He didn't know why that is.
