Has anyone ever modified the shower in the head to allow better stand up showers?
This is one of our main concerns with our 36. Would love a proper shower, perhaps even just mounting the shower head permanently and sealing the surrounding area better? Any ideas welcome.
Thanks

Richard,
I felt the same way. I left the faucet/shower combo alone in the sink, and added a handheld showerhead with its own mixing valve. You can adjust the temp, and then just push the mixing valve in to turn it off. Pull it out to turn the shower back on. Worked great. Took a bit of sweating some copper tubing and elbows. Used Tees off the existing hot and cold supply lines under the sink.

Rich -
We did pretty much all of the same mods that Tom did (I keep telling him if he ever gets on our boat it will look rather familiar!):
Pictures of all these mods are attached.
We desisted from using the shower the first year we owned the boat because there was no shower curtain. But then we discovered it was totally unnecessary, and thus we don't have one (which would just take up a lot of room). The head compartment seems to have been well designed by Catalina (I believe) NOT to need one, and as long as the cabinets are closed, no spray from the shower goes anywhere that it shouldn't. The head compartment dries out very quickly, and if anything the occasional shower keeps it cleaner.
We also, when cruising, frequently make use of camping-style solar showers, which we suspend when ready over the hatch for the head using a spare halyard. They work quite well, particularly when we haven't made use of the engine for a while and thus there's no hot water in the heater tank.

Hi Matthew,
Where did you source the offset thru hull-fitting in the sump pan?

Thanks, got it. I like the idea of being able to completely drain the pan.
