Water Pump Issue

I am having issues with the fresh water pump. The pump will come on but no water will come out of the sink. I thought it was an issue with the pump, so I replaced it with a new pump and there is still no water coming thru to the sink or the head.

The water tanks are full, there is electricity going to the pump. Is there a fuse or something else I am missing? Please help as I have no idea where to go from here.

I'm assuming from your first paragraph, that the pump is actually coming on, but you're not getting water from your faucets.

Couple things I'd check.

First, if you disconnect the hose from the inlet side of the pump, does water come out? I've had issues before where air got in the line while winterizing, and the pump would not prime.

Second, make sure the water tank vent isn't clogged. I've had spiders clog the vent and not only wouldn't the pump produce water, the water tank itself had the top and sides sucked in from the suction.!

In either case, if the tank or tanks are full, you should be able to get water to come out of the hose on the supply side of the pump if that tank is selected at the manifold.

Good luck.!

How about the sink in your head? Do you get water coming out of there?

Don't forget to check the pump's suction strainer, just before the pump.

Paul made a good point about the suction stainer. I have had one where one of the 2 little tangs was broke off so it could not seal down tight and it was sucking air. Enough that the pump would not draw water as the tanks were full just is your case Nancy. Do like the other post says and check the inlet line and remove it to see if water is flowing out, If it does and the pump works I would put money on it that the suction strainer is sucking air.

Thanks. I'll check these and see what happens.

Did the valves between the pump and the tanks get closed during the winterization process?

Hi Nancy
Had this problem and it turned out to be a clogged water filter in the system.
Not proud of it, but I once tossed an otherwise perfectly good pump in the dumpster only to find that the new one did the same thing - ran nearly continuously with an open tap, without building any pressure. Culprit turned out to be a canister-style water filter under the galley sink. Changed the filter cartridge and all was well, except for my pride and barked knuckles thanks to Butler & Co's locating the pump in an unhandy spot.
Hustled back to the dumpster to do some "diving," but no joy - it was empty.
You can test this by removing the filter cartridge, spinning the bowl back on and giving it a try.
Best of luck
Jack

During my recent De-Winterization process I flushed the tanks and ran two tanks full of water through the faucets. Then I removed the water heater bypass, reinstalled the check valve and hooked up the heater. I let the water heater fill with water then fired it up. Checked for leaks and all seemed fine. Then I turned on the hot water valve - water came out for a short time then stopped completely. After several checks including the pump (running), tank valves (open), etc. I removed the faucet aerator and found it completely plugged. My assumption is that calcium deposits from the heater came loose when filling the tank and found thier way to the faucet.

I have that problem every spring. Clean the aerator, and everything is fine.

I have a 2000 MKII as does my dock neighbor. Doesn't happen on my boat, (knock on wood), but his aerators will plug up to the point of complete blockage, as will the filter that's just after the pump. Cleaning fixes the situation. I think there's something else going on in the tanks that cause all that "stuff" to accumulate.
