Washdown pump installation

I am installing a washdown pump in a 2001 C36 Mk II. I was going to draw water by teeing off of the head intake thru hull...any reasons why this is would not work?

Vic, that is something that I have been thinking about changing on my boat as well. Thanks for the reminder.

Vic,
I think that is the exact spot that most owners use as a water source. One other thing you might want to do, while you're at it, is to add a strainer. I added one just after the thru-hull, before the Tee. It catches eel grass and other nasties that could clog either the head or the washdown pump. You don't need a big monster strainer as used for the engine. A small one with a clear bowl works fine. I think I installed this one:

Hope this helps.

I put one in a few years ago on my 1996, with the help of a buddy. We put it under the shower seat in the head and ran the washdown line to the anchor locker.

I did T into the head line but used a check-valve for the line going back to the head so water wouldn't be pulled back through when the pump was running.

Good luck.

I gave the washdown pump its own thruhull. I took away the one for the head inlet and "T" that one into the sink drain.

This way I can close the head/sink drain thruhull and then add fresh water down the sink drain (or anything else I want to go into the head) and it can get pumped into the holding tank. When I dump vinegar down the sink and pump it through, it works great to keep the rotten egg stink out when I leave the boat for a week

and here secifically is the plumbing connections [url]http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b7d728b3127ccec246f43d6db000000010O00C... (I hope that works)
