Reefing set-up

hi,
I bought a 1983/4 Catalina 36 Mk1 Tallrig in May this year. It has a worn-out mainsail and I need to replace it. There is a reefing track on the aft end of the boom, port side with 2 moveable blocks. there are small  cleats on the mast end of the boom. The sail has 2 reef points with reefing cords through all the cringles. A fellow boater at my marina says I will need  some kind of winch assisted reefing system to provide the mechanical advantage necessary to properly tension the sail but there are no mast or boom winches.
I  only have  2 swivel blocks at the foot of the mast and the 2 original double deck organizers as per the Catalina specs. There is a double cIutch on the port cabin roof and a single clutch on the starboard cabin roof with a jam cleat. There is a winch on both port/starboard sides of cabin roof.
I  would like to be able to reef from the cockpit and realize I will need more swivel blocks, fairleads, multiple sheaved deck organizers and clutches. The Catalina 36 manual does not appear to indicate clearly how to set up the reefing and I was wondering if any members know how this should be done?
many thanks

Steve:
Try doing a search for "reefing setup" and you'll find a number of threads that discussed this, such as:

https://www.catalina36.org/forum/sailing-discussion/reefing-point-blocks
https://www.catalina36.org/forum/technical-discussion/lines-running-cockpit
https://www.catalina36.org/forum/technical-discussion/topping-lift-re-rigging-questions

In this thread,
https://www.catalina36.org/forum/technical-discussion/revamping-control-line-scheme, I posted some pictures of the rearrangement of control lines at this comment:
https://www.catalina36.org/comment/55992#comment-55992

(Our reworking of the lines was based on the setup that former Commodore Tom Soko carefully documented here: https://julandra.shutterfly.com/168, if you scroll through his photos you should get the idea of the required equipment. )

We find this works well, and its particularly nice (and safe) to be able to reef -- and double reef -- from the cockpit when things get a little too exciting out there, without having to go forward.
