Install conduit

I am going to have the mast pulled in order to rewire, upgrade some lights, replace my wind speed direction and add a radar. I currently have one conduit in the mast and would like to add a second. Has anyone done this? What would be the best way to hold the conduit in place in the mast in order to drill and pop rivet it in place?

Paul, given no answer's my suggestion, having never done this myself. Don Casey's This Old Boat has a very good description how to do it.

I've not done it either, but when the mast is off you'll be able to view the inside of it. You'll note that the existing conduit is displaced a small amount from the direct forward centerline of the mast. I would suggest that any added conduit be equally displaced on the other side of the mast, rather than being on the centerline. Not infrequently owners wish to add a whisker pole or spinnaker track on the front of their mast, and leaving some room for that will save them drilling into their wiring.

Takes lots of photos and give them to the next owner of the boat.

Thanks for the response Stu, Larry,
I checked out the Casey book and you're right Stu, it is exactly the information that I was looking for.
Larry, I wanted to thank you for your auto pilot installation article. I needed to install a rudder position sensor and your article made the installation much clearer. Got it in and it works!
