Just a note of good news and company praise, my Ritchie compass, model SP-S, which was original equipment on my C36 1994 mk I, was all out of fluid when I bought the boat back in June. The seller refused to cover the repair, so the broker kicked in to cover cost. When I removed the unit from the benicle, I found this black gooey substance all over the bottom and compensator rods. I contacted Ritchie, (Scot) and he said they would replace the melted diaphram, any other parts that needed it, replace the light with new LED, replace the globe and fill it for $200. Given that a new one cost about $600, I sent it in. Got it back in two weeks, essentially a brand new unit. And for some reason they only charged me $180, including the return shipment. They included complete instructions on how to adjust out as much compass error as possible. I highly recommend this fix.
