Hi friends,
As you know Peggie Hall and the conventional wisdom hold that the holding tank should be vented with a (preferably two) one-inch hose connected to a standard open through-hull fitting installed just below the rub rail and covered with a clamshell.
Has anyone done this on a C36?
It makes sense to me that it's the right thing to do, but I'm nervous about the vent coming under water on a hard heel.
Thanks
Nick

I have done this but with a slightly smaller dia hose, I think it's 3/4", and I have no clamshell over the thru-hull fitting. I have had no problems even during some extremely rough crossings of Georgie Strait.

Catalina Direct has a stancion which has a vent built into it's base. This is the type of vent I had on my 30' as well as GWTW. Would prevent your concern of a vent on the side of the hull. Con is that overflow may run down your deck.
