OK I have searched but can't find what I'm looking for, I was at the boat today doing oil change and discovered an overheating problem. I took the heat exchanger out and found that the tubes have been compromised. I thought that I have read about the 3 inch replacement heat exchanger but now I can't find any info. I have already worked out a tow out the inlet for the races Sunday, but if I don't have this fixed by next weekends cruise the one in charge might be upset.

Call Hansen Marine, the Universal Westerbeke distributors in MA, and they can set you up with what you need. If memory serves me correct I think the 3" upgrade for the M-25 is the 302631..

More research has uncovered a company called Go To Marine, seems they make alot of Universal Metalist heat exchangers, the ship time for the 3 inch model for the M25 is 1 day. Some of the other models take 2-3 days before they ship out.

While you wait for the new heat exchanger...
I have a 2002 C36 and had to replace the exchanger. If your current one is like mine, it is fastened into the boat by two brackets brazed(Sp???) onto the exchanger with tabs that bolt to the engine.
This was a weak spot and the new exchangers have loose brackets that wrap around the exchanger with tabs that meet and then thru which the bolt attaches the unit to the engine. Your old bolts will probably be too short to fit so you'll need to get a couple that are about 1/2" longer ... don't be surprised if this is what you find....FYI.
I was on a mooring when I did this job and had to make a couople of trips in to get the corect size.
Hansen's number is 781-631-3282 if your other place doesn't work out... and they got mine to me in about 3 days (though I am closer to them than you (NJ vs Florida).

I had the same problem with the brackets that hold on my heat exchanger. I simply took it to a radiator repair shop and they welded the brackets back on more securely. Knowing what marine parts cost, this may be a cheaper solution.
