Add air conditioning

I know some folks have installed air, so could anyone provide some advice?   Has anyone installed Air/heat on their MKII?   I am looking at a 1600btu.  Where did you put the compressor? Where did you drill to obtain the raw water and where drill for the outlet?   Did you add a separate electrical shore plug? Where did you install it?    What does your air duct plan look like?   What was you total cost for parts without labor, I am looking at $2800 to $3000 in parts without the electrical and the thru hulls.  Thanks..

My compressor is under the seat in front on the sink all the way on the starboard side.  The ducts are routed fore and aft on the port side.  I have a small vent on the port side of the vberth, a large vent above the opening and louvered cabinet just forward of the galley and a small vent in the aft berth that comes out the top and port side of the removable box behind the engine.

the intake thruhull is in the act part of the bilge along with the strainer.  The outlet is above the waterline on the port side.  It can be accessed via a panel behind the port couch cushion.

no separate wiring, never had a problem.

i have seen it run a few different ways on the 36.

no idea what it cost as it was installed.

its 16,000 btu and very effectively cools and heats the boat.

We have a 16K BTU Marine Air Heat Pump on our MK II. Its located beneath the seat next to the Galley sink....very adequate room. The air intake is on the front of the seat near the cabin sole The unit cost about $1500 from West Marine. I don't have $'s on installation or other parts as it was installed by the PO- and replaced by me after discovering it had been not winterized it correctly. It runs off a stand alone 110V system with a separate shore power. The thermostat/controls are mounted in the nav station area. The raw water intake valve is near the sink discharge thru hull. The raw water pump is located near the intake. Important to install this as low as possible to minimize priming issues. A raw water strainer unit is located in the bilge. All the air ductwork runs on the port side of the boat with vents in the aft cabin (engine cover), main cabin (on top of the shelf behind the settee) , head (to the right of the sink) and V berth. I think the flex ductwork is 8-10" dia off the blower and maybe 6" as it branches out. The reverse cycle (heat pump) is a nice feature to provide either cooling or heat. The ductwork makes access difficult for the freshwater tank valves and macerator thru hull. Our system has a hose for compressed air attached in a  manifold at the base of the raw water pump- for blowing the system out to winterize (or flushing with fresh water when not in use).
