I have an 88' MK I. I live about 6 hours from my boat so I cant readily go and look at some things I'd like to. I'd like to order some new 6v batteries to replace my current way to old batteries (11 y/o). The problem is I know neither the dimensions of the batteries or the inner dimensions of those spaces under the 2 seats on the starboard side of our boats. I currently have 12v set up 180a, it consists of 2 6V batteries under the forward seat and 2 6V batteries in the aft seat that abuts the Nav desk.
Anyone know the dimensions or where I might find them for those 2 spots? Thanks in advance.

Not on our boat at present, either.
However, we have 2 6V golf cart batteries for our house bank, and a group 27 12V for starting the diesel. All are in the compartment of the seat just forward of the nav table. The dimensions of the gold cart batteries (Interstate, which are actually East Penn-Deka), according to the Interstate website, are 10 3/16L, 7 1/8W, 11H.

Hi David,
I have 2 Series 31, 12VDC Lifeline AGM batteries, GPL31T and 1 Series 27, 12VDC Starting Battery GPL2700T. The Series 31 batteries are 12.87"L x 9.27"H x 6.75"W and the Series 27 Battery is 12.03"L x 9.47"H x 6.60"W.
They sit side by side on the short side. There is 1/8" rubber pads between each battery.
There is still clearance on each end and ample room for terminal stripe to common the grounds and room for the (-) post shunts for the gauges.
Hope this helps.

David,
I may have misstated, they sit side by side on the long side. Three in a row has a width of ~20-3/8."

Seat adjacent to Nav Station holds 4 6 volt batteries. These batteries were West Marine, but you will find DEKA manufactured. Main concern is height.

Thanks again, I'll be at the boat this weekend. Cant wait to get some new batteries! One other question concerning batteries.
If I swap out my 6v one for one, can I increase the AMP hours without having to change other parts of the system ? Currently have 180ah, I would love to increase to 300ah or so.
