Just bought a 1996 Catalina 36 MK II and was wondering where to mount my EPIRB where it is out of the way but will still self deploy without getting stuck down below as the ship goes down:eek:.
Where is the most logical spot.
I had a 1985 Catalina and had it mounted on the starboard side bulkhead above the Nav Station.
Any help would be appreciated.:)

We mounted ours just inside the hatchway, on the galley wall. You can reach down from the cockpit and flick the retaining clip, and remove the EPIRB.
I would recommend that you practice grabbing the EPIRB, before you actually need to. These sort of things are usually needed when its dark, rough, wet, windy and the last thing you need is to be worried about "how do I work this bloody thing!"
