A female connection indicates the water source external to the boat. Most likely it is shore water connection. My older Catalina did not have one, I installed mine in the aft end of the port combing. That allows infinite water supply when docked.

As a follow up, if the connection was a male fitting, the would indicated the water source was internal, mostly likely pressure water to wash off the anchor on retrieval.
