Any suggestions for washing / cleaning dock lines ? I have heard people use soap and a fabric softener. Our lines are not that old ; maybe 2 years but have picked up dirt, mud and getting a little stiff. Looks like they need a trip to the “mud room “.

Washing Dock Lines
I use a mild bleach and laundry detergent mix. Soak them for a day, brush with a soft brush, rinse well and dry in the sun.
Gets them pretty good. Even the lines that got into the water for some time came out decent. I used a power washer last fall to
rinse the lines after scrubbing (lowest pressure tip) and that got a lot of the deep mud and algae out. I have used fabric softener on
a few that got really stiff but that had limited success.
Don't wash in a machine! They somehow just come apart when you do.

I throw them in the washing machine loose. Laundry soap only. Wash, then let them dry on the kitchen floor or in the garage. Then untangle (fun). They're only dock lines; hell, birds and otters crap on them, sun attacks them. Not rocket science.

And if you let them freeze after washing, you can create some interesting art forms, to boot!

Use a mild detergent, chain loop the lines and put the washer on gentle, preferably a washer with out an agitator. What ever you do, DO NOT use chemicals or bleach! They will destroy lines.

I suggest this is an ingenious way to clean lines.....albeit for climbing ropes.
The unseen actual line-scrubbing takes place inside this device...read the article to see what he uses.
