standing rigging

im negotiating on a purchase on a 2004 36 ft. Catalina mk11.  What would you say as a typical price to replace the standing rigging?   The fridge also has to be replaced.  Any idea on that cost?

Define standing rigging? Shrouds, backstay, hdwe?  Also do plan on doing yourself with like Haynes Stalock fittings or having a rigger do for you?  Where are you located?

We renewed all the standing rigging in 2012. The mast was pulled and the cost to replace all of the rigging was $1700.

What makes the rigging ready for replacement?

I just got a quote including pulling the mast 3200 bucks. Another rigger wanted 6000 to 9000 grand.
I'm still checking.

Here in the Great Lakes figure $800 to pull and reset stick.  Labor is $85/hr, 1/19 rigging is a couple of dollars a foot, plus hdwe.  realistically I would think $3500 area would be about right here is Great Lakes.  When I re rigged my boat and changed the mast to furling I did it all myself other than stepping and unstepping

Chuck, I'm in Channel Islands Harbor.  Who gave you the $3200 quote if I may ask?  I don't need it now, but it'd be good to have.

Depending on your skills...http://www.newjsi.com/rigging_sail.aspx offers standing as well as running rigging and the dimensions for each are listed in the manuals, so you should be able to reduce your costs. My son replaced all his running rigging on his Ericsson this summer with Defenders premade running rigging (wire to rope) needed a couple of tools for swaging the wire....he did a good job!

One thing the yard pointed out was "since you the mast down" you might want to upgrade/replace lights to Led, change this and that. Might want to add a boat buck to your estimate.

And what is the general rule of thumb on rigging replacement frequency?  I have owned my MKI since '03 and have never replaced it.  I believe the P.O. replaced it in about '98?  I have to have the boat pulled in the fall for a bottom job. Should I plan on rigging replacement as well?
