Stainless Steel Cleaner

I have recently been introduced to a product that I am very impressed with. It is called Spotless Stainless. Has anyone else ever used it before? Its consistency is like a gel. Here is the best part. All you have to do is to apply it is with a brush, let it set and wash it off with water in about a half hour. I especially like it because it gets in the crevices and the areas that are almost impossible to get to with regular stainless steel polish.

how does it work on the rusty spots you get under a clamped on fitting? I have a couple places on the pedestal guard that get stained from the cockpit table clamps, gps clamp, etc.

Gary, I'm telling you this stuff is unbelievable! I should market it. I especially like to use it about the bases of the stantions and hard to reach spots, you know, like around the heads of the screws. You have to let it work for about 20 or 30 minutes and then hose it off.

I have used it and it is wonderful stuff. I watched a boat next to mine use it on an old pulpit last year and could not believe the results...it looked like new. It can only be ordered on-line.

What kind of affect does it have on gel coat should one get a little sloppy in the application?

Gelcoat is not affected whatsoever, other than it will remove any wax finish. Be sure to use rubber gloves when applying this polish cleaner. I used it some more over the weekend on my grill and my fingers were tingling afterwards. After you hose it off it leaves a slight protective finish as well.

I just ordered some "Spotless Stainless Steel Cleaner", I'll report back on the results. Hope it works as well as advertised.

Does anyone have a product they recommend for buffing and polishing gelcoat? The previous owner didn't tape around the wood and spilled teak treatment on the nonskid. Trying to remove that and generally remove the chalky appearnace on the side of the boat.

Our '95 was totally chalky when we bought it, I used a fine liquid rubbing compound from 3M in a blue bottle with a power polisher and that took off all the chalkiness, then followed it up with a coat of Meguiar's yellow carnuba boat wax and the thing shines like a new boat. Took 30 seconds to type that, 2 days to do it.

Storq,

Maine Sail used to own a C36, and is active on many boards. I tried this procedure last year on a fairly chaulky hull, and the results were spectacular! As Bud said, it was two days of fairly hard work, but I don't ever plan on doing it again. This year just a few touch-ups with polishing compound and a coat of wax, and it shines again.

Maine Sail does a great job of sharing his incredible knowledge. I just skimmed the article, but it looks like a keeper to me.

I need to buy the right tools; it really is a mistake to expend all the effort without the proper power tools, pads, and polishes.

Where did you get it from ?

The next question is does it remove the wax on hull with the run off when you rinse it off after letting it set, or does it only remove the wax if you drip the product itself onto the gelcoat

TomSoko and bstreet thanks for the advice and link to the article on Compound, Polish, & Wax article. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me, but I'm excited to get my hands dirty. I'll take some pictures and post the results.
