You are right Rick, THAT is a painful video to watch! Every time we go for a sail we have to hail the bridge tender and it has always been one of my concerns that I am not passing toward the middle and will get hung up on the bridge.

Sure looked to me like the bridge was WELL on its way to being closed when those boats were heading for it. Looked like the boat that hit was racing to pass the other boat.
If my observations are correct, that sure was stupidity.

True enough, but on the upside he can now motor under the closed bridge. Which is what he seemed to want to do. So he won!

Sure looks like someone was in a big hurry and the bridge was already closing, but as Bud says...."don't have to worry about closings anymore in that condition!"

This is the reason I always hail the Bridge Operator even if the boat in front of me makes his call. I want to be sure the Bridge Operator knows there is a second boat coming through also.
