Last month while inspecting the engine I found evidence around the weeping hole on raw water pump it had wept some water at one time or another and the same for the coolant pump. However, I have never seen water or coolant anywhere. So, to be safe side I decided to completely rebuild the raw water pump (bearings and all) and replace the coolant pump. Then I decided I wanted to replace the gasket under the thermostat housing tower that attaches to the head. Unfortunately to remove the thermostat tower you have to remove the timing case cover and crank shaft pulley. Now all the gaskets, crankshaft seal, alternator belt, raw water hoses, (2) molded 3/8” hoses for the water heater coolant, hose clamps, top 1-1/16 molded coolant hose from the thermostat housing, and (5) O-rings are replaced. Oh yes and a can of paint, I think Westerbeke thinks they are selling liquid gold at $39 a can. Next is to re-torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 175-foot pounds. That required making a custom fixture to hold the crank while torquing the bolt. All went very well and is running nicely no leaks.

Nice job Charles. Thanks for sharing.
