Nonskid for the companionway ladder

I've been refinishing my companionway ladder recently [thanks for the info on the proper finish to use]. There was some nonskid on the steps, and for safety, I'm looking to do the same thing.

What are other people doing with nonskid on the ladder steps?

I'm thinking of clear tape type [but can't find it], or mixing a bottle of it with the last coat of the finish.

What I've seen many people use is the tread tape from 3M available in clear, white and black in varying widths. Check this out......

Robert -
Two different approaches from the C36 site's upgrades section:

(We chose the latter approach -- the silicone-filled grooves -- and it works well).

Thanks DeJaVue,, WM had it in stock.. It was actually cheaper than I found elsewhere... How often does that happen at WM?

I've been using the non-skid like you get from WM for years. I've learned the hard way, to make sure I fold a piece over the forward edge of each step, as I've slipped on those edges many times. When I start to slip again, it's time to replace them.

Good advise.. It didn't look like they were changed anytime in the recent past. We had not slipped, but refinished the ladder, so I wanted to get new strips. We will keep your advise in mind for future reference.
