James, there are two memberships you need to consider.
One is the free "membership" to participate in the Forum, as you are doing.
The other membership is in the Catalina 36 International Association, of which this website is just one service. If you join the C36IA for three years, you get a free CD with archived Mainsheet articles going back to the origin of the species. You also gain access to the (paper) Mainsheet magazine that winds up in your mailbox quarterly, and you gain access to the Members Only section of this website, where you can download an Excel spreadsheet of a Members Roster showing hull numbers, owners, location and email address.
There are other benefits, too, including the Jibsheet electronic newsletter, and Tom's Tool Box, although I am not sure how his tool lending would work in Canada.
There are a number of C36s based on the west coast of BC, and many south of the 49th down to Olympia. All of these waters will be fertile cruising grounds for you. You will occasionally see our Portland-based boat, High Flight, in Vancouver, either at Coal Harbor or, more likely, False Creek.
Go to the link on the home page and sign up for the three-year. You really appreciate having the Mainsheet Archive CD at hand.
Where did you move from? Where do you base your boat? I don't know if you've ever lived in Vancouver before, but I think it is one of the world's top five most beautiful cities. You can sail one day and ski Whistler the next! What a paradise!

I am in Vancouver. I believe we probably saw you coming through customs the other day, my boat is at the FCHA on C dock.
Congratulations on the new boat, I hope you have less work ahead of you than I do!
