Hey guys, looking for some information on shipping dimensions for a fin keeled 1987 MKI. The max hull hight, I'm told, can be 12' before I need to pull the stantions and the bow/stern pulpits. I REALLY don't want to have to go through the heartache (read: expense) of having the yard take them all off.
Looking for some good news... anyone know the exact hight of the hull from the bottom of the keel to the highest part on deck?
As always, thanks for he help!

I don't have any idea on the dimensions, but I'd think that Catalina might be a good source? I remember seeing quite a few Catalinas and Hunters arriving at the dealer in Md., and seem to recall that they had the pulpits in place, though most would have been shoal keels.
just a thought, someone here may indeed have the dimensions from personal experience.

The professional boat shippers move our boats, fin- or shoal-keel, with stanchions and pulpits in place.

Good to hear, thanks guys. Far be it from me to break from precedent; especially when that means paying someone $65 an hour to take them off, and $65 an hour to put them back on.

Highest parts of my boat when loaded up were the steering wheel and pedestal guard. I took those off but left the winches, dorades, stanchions, and steering pedestal in place. That got it up and down the west coast no problem.

Hi,
I had my boat transported from the coast to lake texoma, without removing anything(except the mast). there was no problem, you might want to double check on the height restriction, it sounds like the 12 feet the WIDTH not the height. for some reason i think that the height restriction may be 13 or 14 feet not twelve. I know that the carrier had to be routed so that he didn't pass under any overpass that was less the 14 feet.
hope that helps

Just to close the loop on this one, I shipped it with the stantions on. No problems at all. If anyone is looking for a company to ship their boat, I highly recommend Joule Yacht Transport. They were well priced, and the service was outstanding.

Tobaygo,
That's what we like to see - someone closing the loop on a thread. Glad it worked out for you and thanks for sharing the final result.

Just for grins, I've attached a picture of it loaded on the truck (with the stantions on!)

Have you ever had your stanchions rebedded? If not, maybe this is a good time. Just a thought.

I shipped mine across 4 states. Never had a problem, Everything in place I removed nothing.
Any good transported or Hauler will know when you tell him your draft. They will know best route and what if any permits are required for the haul.
Good luck
