nav seat ?

Since day one of ownership the nav seat has been in my attic. I really didn't see the need for it on a large lake or even possible coastal cruising in the future. That brings me to my question....I have a friend that is interested in buying it.
1. should I worry about future resale if I don't have the seat?
2. what do you think a fair price would be for it?

How many of you have also removed the seat?

I think you'll get next to nothing for the seat if you sell it and it could impact resale. It's not so much the possibility that anyone would be wanting that seat. It's more that when all the original pieces, spare parts, and manufacture's documentation are organized and stored by the boat owner then there is an implicit suggestion that the boat was well taken care of.

I use my chair often, but I think the chair back really gets in the way. I've left my chair back in my boat parts storage bin. It's a box that is 4' x 4' x 3' tall. In it is my original prop, usable OEM sails, winter storage cover, extra water pump, the V berth filler, and the helm seat filler that sits between the wheel and the ladder. If I had a 45' boat I'd probably store all this on the boat, but the C36 just does not have enough storage space for that sort of stuff.

I keep the spare parts box at work. If I blow out a sail at some remote port I can get someone back at the company to pull one of the old sails out and overnight it to me at whatever port I'm at.

There was no nav seat in our boat when we bought it and that meant nothing to us price wise. I would have taken it out anyway, that real estate is far better used for other things. IMHO.

That was the very first item to go when we purchased our boat. I sold it through a nautical consignment shop and I believe I ended up selling it for $25. It seemed like it was always in the way and whenever I needed to take a close look at charts I would usually use the settee table in the main salon. I purchased a couple of nice teak doors and installed them below the nav table and that is where we keep our shoes. I honestly don't think a new owner would really care if it came with the boat or not.

Nav seat was one of the first things I took out when I bought my boat. Made myself a nice locker for that area instead.

Our nav seat was not installed but aboard when we bought her. Tried to reinstall but virtually impossible due to 6V batteries under the seat. Haven't missed it a bit.

We removed the chair backrest because it impeds opening aft cabin door fully, stool then swings under chart table. Only use infrequently though. Support arm can't be removed without first removing glued in battery boxes. Another project that's further down the list.

I am just curious how big to all are. I use mine a lot but then in am only 5'7" 160 lbs. It is one of my favorite places to sit.

I am 6 feet tall, well over 200 lbs and use the seat often. My sailboat is 32 feet behind my house so when I read my Mainsheet or other sailing magazine while sitting there I can hear my wife call me from the house for dinner.

Dumped mine to someone on c36 email list for $75 plus shipping. Wouldn't worry about resale sounds like a lot are available. We put in custom cabinetry to match boat exactly, if you want a picture email me off line chiclasser1@yahoo.com.

Thanks for the reponses. I don't use it, not going to miss it in my attic, and will sell it to a friend who can use it.
