My best upgrade so far. by far.

As most of you know we just bought our second c36. A 1985 hull # 374.

While we really like the boat, it needed a lot of upgrades so for the month we have had the boat so far we have upgraded all the Electronics, the lighting inside and out, new bottom paint, cockpit table and so on.

But we got to say the upgrade that everyone of us enjoy the most, by a fair margin is the electric head. It is the best $400 we have spent on the boat.

With a family of 4, 3 girls and my self, our head gets a good work out.

The new head uses less water, no smell, and that is cool, is quite and a lot easier to flush. I don't know what to do if if/when it goes out. I know we will repair it, but what to do the day it quits, maybe I will carry a spar!

Mean while we will enjoy the push button flush, our favorite upgrade.

Bob, we are in the midst of upgrading items on our 1983 C36. We're curious also about what head you purchased and how easy it was to install.

I put in a Raritan Sea Era electric head and have been very happy with it. The prices vary considerably and I got mine on-line for $440 @ www.boatersland.com.

Its not difficult to install, it bolts right in place, but you'll be surprised about the cost, and length, of the cable to get from the batteries to the head (if your head is on the starboard side aft the vee berth and the batteries are on the port side). They recommend an 8 gauge wire but 10 works and it was still about the cost of the head it self.

On the old website there is a complete description of installing the head along with pictures by a "Bruce". I am sorry to say I've forgotten his last name but he gave me some good advice so you may want to check it out.

Hello Chuck, I am at the point to where I am thinking of adding an electric head. I read your post and was wondering if you ordered the part number RAR160L and used the toilet bowl and seat or did you order an entire new head? The RAR160L runs $350.
