Mother's day, Admiral's 1st inspection after 9 months!

And de-naming and re-naming ceremony and the first sail out of the marina.... All yesterday!!! (pics at end of restoration photos)

It was almost 10 months ago that we splashed her and limped into the slip with an overheading engine and blown muffler spaying water & steam everywhere. It was the first water the boat had seen in 6 years!

My wife hasn't been back until yesterday. On Saturday, I STOPPED work, put all the tools away, got out the Chlorox and just scrubbed and scrubbed for 8 hours straight, aft to v-berth.

The day came yesterday... would she accept her as OUR boat... or would she forever remain my mistress and man-cave.... What stress!

Here is the photo essay of (some not all) of what i've been up to every week, 4 days a week, after Masters swimming practice, for the last nine months. I've had a Blast! (albeit an expensive one)!

The sails are good, I just need to pull the moldy lines down and run them through the washing machine,

Thanks alot guys :)

FYI I just noticed that you have to open the individual pictures (or slideshow) to read my running comments/descriptions. The captions don't show in the thumbnail/proofsheet overview.

Congratulations. Great job!

Interesting, the ground wire from the mast to the forward keel bolt. Nice.

It's a piece of the left over 2/0 gauge. If you look real close you can actually see the number on the cable :-)

I cheated though and only used a hose clamp on the keel bolt end, instead of a big crimped lug held by another keel nut. Although probably a million volts of lightning won't care :p

Looks awesome!

From one swimmer-sailor to another, you may have just inaugurated a new event -- the 12-yard Freestyle :)

Hahahahaha I love it....

12 yards.... sure sounds alot easier than the seemingly endless sets of 200 on 3:30 that we did today!!!

How did you do such a great job of painting the engine? It looks new.

The p/o changed out the engine with this one, it came painted this way.  It doesn't look quite so nice up close.  Salt corrosion is already bubbling through.

Anyway, the panel that came with the engine says only 470 hrs.  I don't know if that can be believed. Does the panel/tach really belong to this engine?  The panel itself looks 100 yrs old... but at least the wires/connections are all new now.
