BoyNSea has main roller furling with a Charleston Spars mast. She has always had the usual problem with rainwater collecting in the bilge but the mast boot/cabin ceiling area has always been dry.
While on the boat in a squall this weekend water poured like a hose inside the mast boot and soaked the cabin. The boot is new this spring but the clamps are tight and the boot appears to be well sealed.
I test poured water through the mast at both the bottom of the sail and the base of the furling line coil. In both tests the water poured inside the mast boot and into the cabin rather than all flowing into the bilge. I don't understand how the water goes from inside the mast at the sail and furling line levels to outside the mast at cabin ceiling level. Could I have blocked a weep hole with the new mast boot? From reading other posts on this issue I don't believe the mast has a weep hole.
The boat was stored on the hard with the mast out this winter and I am wondering if something happened while taking the mast out last fall or putting it back up this spring.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

couple of areas to look at - I changed my boot this winter - and it didnt come up as far as the previous one - it was comming in thru the "bolt rope" slot - A little calk in the slot and that one was sealed. Also when they pulled the mast - it broke the seal betweeen the mast collar and the deck - I havent got that one sealed up yet -

My furling main, also Charleston, has a drain hole above the mast boot which drains rainwater in the sail slot/opening. Occasionally I have to unclog the hole to allow drainage from the slot to the deck.

Looks like I just need to lower the top of the boot.
Thanks!
