I have seen some mention af a "Mark 1.5" What are the years of this, is it a nickname for certain features and, if so, what were these features.

Hi Neil, I've wondered about this too. My best guess would be that MK 1.5 refers to a boat like my '91 which has the MK I interior but also has the walk-through transom. I believe your '92 is the same way. I'll be interested in hearing what the definition is, I may have to change my signature to MK 1.5 .

And then there's some boats (94s I think) which had the Mk II interiors and hull portholes but not the big assed hull. So would those be Mark 1.75?
I have a 1994 which has exactly the same interior as my friend's 1995; his boat, however, has a wider stern (I believe only above the water line). I think 1994 was the transition year. I have Universal 35A diesel; not sure if he has the 35B. They called my boat a M 1.5

According to Jerry Douglas, the first C36 MkII was hull #1368 in 1994.

Pooka, hull 1339, is a 94 with the narrow stern snd teak finish around the companion way. We kept Pooka at Rhode Island Marine in North Kingstown, RI last winter. In the same yard was Vincenzo, a Mk II, 1994, hull 1367. Vincenzo had the wide ass stern, stainless finish around the companionway and two pair of overhead spotlights in the cabin which were not included on 1339 . Also the counter was coran in 1367 where 1339 had formica counters. In the cockpit, only the seat bottom of the port cockpit locker lifts on 1339 whereas the seat bottom and back open on 1367 offering more convenient storage space. The port lazerette locker on 1339 is used for the propane tank where on 1367, that same space is available for storage and there is a separate small locker for propane between the port lazarette and the port cockpit locker. 1339 is like Pegasus show in this youtube vid, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4deXC8yy94.

Don't know if you folks ever had a Mark 1 1/4. :):):)

My boat is a 1993, hull number 1252, and I have a Mk II interior, Universal 35A engine, walk through transom and a narrow stern.
That's a Catalina 36 Mk 1.5.

So, if my '91 has the narrow stern, walk-through transom and the MK I interior, does that make me a MK 1 1/4 ?

Mike, it really all depends on what all of you skippers decide to make it.
We chose to use the hull contours and not the differences in the interiors regardless of what the transoms might have been in the early to mid-90's.

Well, since I started this I guess I had better disclose, my '92 has narrow stern, walk thru, with the old interior.

I just had the hull on my 1991 C36 (hull 1133) buffed out professionally, and got all three helm instruments working at the same time, so I'm unilaterally declaring an upgrade from a MK 1.5 to a MK 1.51. Time, corrosion and oxidation will no doubt set me back to a 1.5 by the end of summer.

You short changed yourself, Nelson. It's at least a Mk 1.6 after all that work!
