Ahhh, the wonderful world of marketing. Dacron® is simply a DuPont trademarked name for polyethylene terephthalatea (polyester) fiber and fabrics made from it. So all Dacron® is polyester, but not all polyester is Dacron®.

Dacron stretches much less than nylon, which is what you want for running rigging. Nylon is what you'll find at West Mar. Try going on-line to Defender .com

For running rigging I've been using Rigging Only ( www.riggingonly.com or www.riggingandhardware.com ) out of Fairhaven, MA.
They seem to have significantly better pricing than even Defender, and have been very helpful in phone consultations about line choices, fittings, etc. (call 508-992-0434 and ask for Tom).

NER Stay Set works just fine, or its equivalent in other manufacturer's line. No need to complicate this issue with a "chemical reaction" discussion. :D:D:D:D
Owner's Encyclopedia on the main website. C36 Manuals section, C36 Mk I & Mk II Manuals are there in PDF form.

It says 2 lines 5/16" X 30 ft each.
Wealth of information on the main site, worth spending some time browsing it and getting familiar with what's there.
Ok, found it in the manual - thanks!
Next question, it says 5/16" Dacron but I don't see any Dacron for sale at West Marine. What would be a suitable line to use?

It appears that dacron is polyester. :)
