Hey guys,
I've been slamming my head against a wall trying to get my boat moved for the last 5 weeks or so. I'm sick and tired of dealing with these "professional" moving companies. I've got the truck to tow the boat, and do so safely. I'm working on getting a trailer built to carry the boat but I'm having trouble finding exact height from the bottom of the keel to the cabin top (or top of the pulpit, cause I really don't want to remove it if I don't have to)
I've seen some posts about it being 13'6" but I just have a hard time believing that Catalina was shipping 14'+ loads around the country. The boat is an 86 fin keel. If anyone has pics of their boat being hauled/trailer that would be awesome as well. If the boat is ~12ft tall I can have the trailer built up in the next couple of weeks, but if the boat itself is 13'6" then I'm going to have to re-evaluate.

Is the boat in the water or on the hard right now? I ask because it would seem best to take your own measurements, which obviously wouldn't be so difficult if the boat has been hauled.
There seem to be variations in these boats from year to year. We have a fin keel, and yet noticed that another 80s vintage fin keel Mk1 had a different keel depth. Again, both were fin keel (not "shoal depth") but there was like a 6" difference....
Other option might be to contact Catalina with the hull number, maybe they have would have the dimensions?

Unfortunately the boat is in the water and is located about 6 hours (one way) from me. The broker did go out and measure the height of the bow pulpit to the water and it was 6'2" on mine. Assuming the 5'10" draft is closeish, the total boat height is 12', add in a 6" fudge factor, I need the keel block to sit roughly 12" or less off the ground.
With the pulpits, stantions, pedestal, and stern rail removed it looks like I can lose about 8-10" of height. Boat should fit just fine under any 13'6" bridges, though I think there are only 14'+ bridges between the boat and me.
