Finally found my boat!

Finally found my Catalina 36 MKII and thanks for all the replies and assistance to my queries!

Just brought it home from Stuart, Florida to Clearwater, Fl and did the OCW Limbo. It took 5 days with my 16 year old daughter crewing.

On the picture of the instruments at the helm, is that a rear view mirror?

It is! They motored up and the the ICW between the Chesapeake and Stuart, Fl and used it to spot power powerboats coming up on them.

Very nice!

A rearview mirror: how else to see one's competitors??? I note the pillows are at the pointy end of the V-berth, which looks great for a sales photo, but I think most of us sleep with our feet at that end. And those galley sinks look *spotless*. You're going to love the boat.

Congratulations on the new-To-You C-36.

Five days for that trip home is good time. You must have taken the short cut across Lake Okeechobee. If you did, did you use the boat tipper at the 49 foot Railroad bridge or where you able to just motor under it. I know Duane was able to go under the bridge without be heeled over.

Congrats Jim, She's beautiful. Pristine and I see lots of extras, davits, radar wow! I did notice something that surprised me on the engine photos, Looks like the coolant hose running from the pump back to the heat exchanger runs outside the belt. Am I seeing that right? I would think it would cause you to have to disconnect the hose to remove or install a new belt. Having had two belts break while away from the dock, I wouldn't want the added trouble. But maybe I'm not seeing it correctly.
In any case you're gonna love the boat.

I too enjoyed the pictures of your new baby. The engine in particular was astonishingly clean! You will, no doubt, love you new vessel like we all love our 36's. I noticed that your dodger is configured like mine used to be. Mine was designed in such a way that it was considerably lower than the bimini. What I did was I purchased some used 1" S/S and lengthened the pieces that hold it up vertically. Of course I had to be careful not to raise it up too far as to interfere with the aft end of the boom. Then, it was about time to replace my dodger and had a new dodger fabricated to fit. Now, I never hit my head entering or exiting the cabin.

We took the OCW and made it in 2 days across to Ft. Meyers.. I had to be "tipped" as it was just over 49' the day I passed.

This boat sails a lot faster than it motors and we really made good time going outside the last day from Anna Maria Island to Clearwater.

I am certain you will love Illusion.

Your post title "Finally found my boat" reminds me of several late night trips back from the yacht club bar and their cheap gin and tonics. Hope you don' t wake up with a headache.
