Cockpit cushions

Time to replace cockpit cushions.  What do others like or not and who to buy from?

It all depends on how much you want your sensitive spots protected, how much you like to clean them, and where you sit.  Also, you trade comfort for dirt resistance and durability.

My C36 Mk II has the original grey cushion set. with tri-fold cusions for the longer benches, and cushions for each seat. They are not really comfortable to sit on, but they are almost maintenance free and clean with boat-soap and a brush, like the deck - that's the part we like. We use the rail pilot seats, but never sit on the lids for the rear lazarettes, so do not put those out.  The velcro straps on the pilot seats are not long enough, so we had those modified by a local canvas shop.  The 'hinges' on the tri-fold bench cushions wore badly, so we also had the local shop replace them with normal Sunbrella material.  When it comes time to replace them, I think that I will continue favoring durability / low-maintenance over comfort.

Enrique-
We purchased our cockpit cushions from AmeriSeam Marine Canvas 13801 W Hillsborough Ave Tampa Fl (813-854-1128) in 2013. They were very helpful and hopefully are still there.
They made "breathable" cushions for us- a heavy vinyl mesh stitched over a relatively high density water proof, closed cell foam.  They dry rapidly if they get wet. We selected white, but they have other colors. They are extremely resistant to stains and easy to clean. They are cooler to sit on vs. solid vinyl. The cushions also double as floatation devices. Six years later, they still look like new.

They have the MKII dimensions on file. For our boat, the long seats utize two cushions each. I suppose they could combine into one long one if needed (but this would restrict lazerette and skylight access) We also have cushions for the aft seats, but hardly use them. They supplied snap screws to secure cushions to the seat tops, but we never installed them as I didn't want to drill holes in the fiberglass. I  wrapped the sewed-in snap buttons with selfsealing tape to prevent them from marking the fiberglass seats. You could probably order without the snaps. The cushions stay reasonably put by their own weight. We store them in the aft cabin when not on the boat. The P/N they gave us was A-CA17 36MKII. I can't recall the price other than they seemed very reasonable.

We have a set of foam cushions from c cushions . They are comfortable and easy to clean but not stain free. We can store the under the dodger when away from the boat . We have a set in dark blue that is close to the color of our canvass. In hindsight we should have bought a set in a lighter color. The dark blue can be a bit hot at the peak of the summer.

We had a set made by Island Nautical (previously JSI) out of St Petersberg Fl. Dont know if they still do but that used to provide canvas work to Catalina. We used quick dry foam covered by sunbrella.
