Hello 36ers
I thought I would post a new topic so all would get it. I installed a clear pipe between the holding tank to observe the outflow when running the macerator. I did not think it was working correctly. Sure enough on our way out to the islands it did not go well at all.
We returned with a very full tank and it was off to the pump out once again. I disconnected the hose at the macerator and there was barely a trickle getting sucked out. I tried a rotor rooter tool and that did not make a difference.
Next step was to stuff the hose down the pipe and have the admiral turn it on full blast. NOTE: It was a really good idea to remove all the cushions from the area. As soon as she hit the hose what was in the hose is now on the lowered table (eew). It was a good thing she was out on the deck so she didnt see that mess.
One more time with the hose except this time we have a large amount of paper towels wrapped around the hose. BINGO!! whatever was clogging the hose is now in the tank.
Now when I pumped out it was going gangbusters till it clogged again. Back to the hose and the rap. once again whatever it was blew back into the tank.
Pump out again until it went dry.
The holding tank has a tank monitor on top so I was able to remove it and peer down into the tank. strangely enough the empty tank wasnt too bad. I was able to flush the tank vigorously through the hole where the monitor was. each time with the pump out hose it took about 2mins or less to empty
y the full tank. after 2 or 3 flushes nothing but clear water coming out of the tank. Now the macerator will function correctly for the first time in god knows how long.
Included are the pics of the finished installation.
