Cleaning the filthiest couple inches on the boat....

I saw a spring clip for holding chip bags closed fall behind the gimbaled stove/oven on my 2001 MKII. The adventure began.
Looking back into that not easily accessed crevice I saw bread tags, spice jar caps, plastic in many forms, clothespins and remains of old tomatoes, nuts and other foods consumed aboard since the boat was built. The slot behind the stove/oven is too narrow and too deep to simply reach in or send a vacuum cleaner head. From under the stove when on the gimbals the clearance is maybe 1.5 inches. Too small.
The handy solution was using the middle hatch board as a lever to lift the stove off the gimbals and two pieces of 2x4 that I use under the stairs when the engine cover is removed to hold it in place - one under the stove, one behind.
That made enough room to empty the debris, spray Lysol and wipe it all down. Time figuring out how to do it surpassed the actual cleaning time.
My warning to others - don't look back there, it cannot be unseen until cleaning is finally done!

I am surprised there isn't enough room to reach underneath the oven.  I have the same year MKII and I am able to reach under my stove and clean the back, which I have done occasionally.   I wonder if we have different models of stoves?  My stove does look like the supports have had work done on them in the past.  Its possible it was replaced or whoever worked on it raised it a little.

The gap at the bottom is just big enough to use the hatch board as a lever - I'm certain it is the original installation. Fortunately it is working fine, I'd like to find a new front panel or decals for the panel to make the controls readable again.

Its a different model than mine.  I have much more space underneath, and even on the sides.  I think thats why it looks like the gimbals were fixed.  There is a piece of wood on either side the gimbals are attached.  Like someone added spacers.  Its a smaller stove.  Next time I am at the boat I will look up the model.
