I have C36 hull 2018, launched 12/'01 which is fitted with a factory installed Hurth 100 transmission and dealer installed three bladed Autoprop. Blades on this feathering prop rotate freely on the hub with no gears or stops.
When shifting at 850 rpms, there is quite a loud clunk underfoot, more so than I've experienced with other boats including Calalinas fitted with fixed or feathering props. I'm concerned about transmission, motor mount and shaft strut longevity. The transmission had a complete overhaul about three years ago.
My question is this: Should I consider this shifting noise to be normal without concern for excessive wear and tear? What have other C36 owners with this transmission and Autoprop setup experienced? Rod Johnson, "Spirit Wind"
First of all, Rod, I would direct you to Tom Sokoloski's excellent and thorough article on Autoprop Annual Cleaning, which resides on the C36IA's Technical - Maintenance page. In order to access this, you must be a paid-up Member (capital M) of the C36IA. Tom's article is comprehensive and well documented, with detailed photography.
Second, have you had someone else shift the transmission while you were below listening to the source of the 'clunk'? What results?
I am sure other owners will chime in here with more questions and suggestions.

Last winter we replaced also the 3-blade prop for an AutoProp including new bearing, new shaft etc.
The reduction gear (ZF-12M) is replaced in October 2020 and more or less new.
We have now the same experience that when shifting there is quite a loud clunk - which wasn't there with the original prop.
Was there any outcome on the issue described above?
