Hi all,
Just completed a 12 day cruise to Port Davey on the South West coast
of Tasmania.
It has to be one of the best wilderness areas to sail in in the Southern Hemisphere.
Only 20 hours from Hobart (in fine weather) past magnificent rugged scenery, but you are out of contact with the world except for HF and VHF radio, no phones or internet (peace and quiet).
Look it up on Google Earth

Nice; would be interested in what type of wildlife, sea animals you see in your area?
Looks to be similar cruising grounds to what we have in remote areas of British Columbia; except you don't seem to have as many trees...

G,day Howard,
We have mainly nocturnal animals such as wallaby (small kangaroos),
wombats and smaller very shy animals, so you have to look carefully.
There are no large predators.
The bird life is many and varied.
A very wild place in winter, with the westerly wind from the roaring forties, so a lot of the tree life is stunted and only gets to a decent height in sheltered areas.
My photos don't do it justice.
cheers
