Graphite Infused Shaft Packing

I am preparing to change out the shaft packing for the first time and acquired graphite infused packing material (WPT's GTU shaft packing.  After acquiring it I read Nigel Calder's recommendation to avoid graphite because of potential for galvanic corrosion and that ABYC does not allow it for same reason.

Looking to the more experienced sailors for guidance.  What have you used?  Has the graphite caused problems?  The threads here seem to suggest folks are using either GORE or WTI equivalents.

visit my website.  I use Gore. They last more than 7 years between changes.
Before you put the nut back on, insert lanocoat into the stuffing box. This will make it watertight when cold. It will loosen up when the shaft turns and will let the water through.
