Posting a Technical Article

I have tried to submit the same technical article twice, and it doesn't appear to have been published. The first time it looked like everything had gone through, but then I could never find it again when searching the site. I waited for a month and then re-posted it, but this time I copied the URL and pasted it in a note so I could click on it out later.

Here is that link:
https://www.catalina36.org/members/technical/upgrades/beta-25-re-power-1987-mk1

Am I missing something? Is there some other process I have to go through in order to submit a technical article?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

Thanks for your response. I'm a paid member through July of 2025. Not sure what the issue is.

Try to send a private message to Leslie Troyer he was the last published MKl technical editor and also Cdr. I'm guessing currently no one is assigned since the group switched to Facebook. You might find a path through Facebook.

It looks like it wasn't "published" yet. I'm not sure if that is supposed to be the tech editor's job to do or if there was another step you could have done. If marked as published now, so let me if you that did the trick.

Also, thanks so much for contributing! The forums seems to be the only thing still happening in the organization these days. Most officers have sold there boats and been unable to find people to take over their positions. If anyone has little bit of time and energy to try to keep the place running please let me know.

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks so much!

I had posted this project on a Facebook group, where I was politically (and impolitely) encouraged to post it on this site, which I have actually used quite a lot since purchasing our Catalina 36 three years ago. Your explanation of past officers leaving the group/selling their boats/moving on definitely explains some of the hiccups that I have experienced while navigating the site.

Like all good things in life, however, it is worth the extra effort. I appreciate you resolving my issue. The article now appears in the Technical Article section!
Cheers!

Sadly, being rude on social media seems to be some people's main pastime these days. I think most people do appreciate you sharing what you've learned from your experience regardless of where it is posted. Facebook probably gets more "engagement", but searching can be difficult and who knows how long that data will still be accessible to everyone, so getting it on the website also is great.

Thank you for that. Yeah, it amazes me when people go out of their way to be nasty. I have always wanted to post my projects on this forum, but had some difficulty navigating the interface. Particularly including photos. Larry Brandt's suggestion to create a .pdf and attaching it ended up doing the trick.
Thanks again!
