Ahoy!

Just wanted to introduce myself.  I recently signed up, as i was in the market for a Catalina 36 Mark ii.  I've now got a purchase agreement for #1428.  It's a 1995 model, in pretty good shape.

I'm in Oklahoma, and the boat will go into Grand Lake.  It's currently on Lake Lanier outside of Atlanta, where it's been since new.  I'm hoping to finalize the deal and get the boat over here in the next month or so.

My wife and I had a Catalina 34 on Lake Ontario from 2001 to 2006.  It was a 1986, hull #75, and pretty much a continuous upgrade/repair/maintenance project at the time.  When we moved to Tulsa, we knew we wouldn't have the time for the boat, so we sold it.

After being boatless for 16 years, we're now both retired, and ready to get back afloat.

This boat is in much better shape than our '86 was, but from the recent survey there are still some things to take care of:
- The deck shows high moisture content around the shrouds and stanchions, so the surveyor recommends rebedding them.  No indication of any leakage on bulkheads.
- There are 3 blisters on the hull that need to be dried out and repaired.
- The wind meter (ST50) intermittently cuts out
- It's got a faulty GFCI outlet in the galley
- And a few other minor things

I've already done some research on the site to address the above - so thank you to everyone that's left a document trail for us newbies.  Looking forward to contributing to that at some point.

Regards,
Steve

Steve, first of all, if those are the only issues, YOU'RE GOLDEN!  Re-bedding is a small job compared to some.  Reality is that you WILL find other things that need doing, but that's boating life and you're retired now!  Welcome back to owning a hole in the water you throw money into. K.
