In a recent thread a member mentioned shampooing their engine. Our engines accumulate dust and gunk over time and need an occasional good cleaning. In the past I've just tried to get a rag into nooks and crannies but that never returns the results I'm looking for. Wondering what others do to give thier engine a thorough cleaning. Can I lterally just cover the air cleaner & circut breaker, give a dousing of degreaser and hose it off? I would collect the rinse water to avoid discharging it overboard.
Any suggestions welcome

It's not the solution to your nooks-and-crannies question, but I've found that brake cleaner (auto parts store) and paper towels are a great solution (pun intended) for cleaning up baked on oil and scum on the engine. Remember to ventilate well and don't breathe the stuff in.
