In the process of buying a boat and will be re-naming her. Does anyone have any suggested rituals in re-naming her in order to ward off evil spirits or demons of the deep?

Definately do the ritual...pronto. I bought my C36 in March 2018 & changed her name before she hit the water.
Thought I'd do the ritual and process after I brought her to my home port.
Bad call.
As is set out to my home port I ended up having water in the fuel tank.
The Water overwhelmed the filters and I had to have my fuel pump rebuild.
Delayed my trip for weeks including big dockage and diesel mechanic costs.
Learned my lesson. Never pissoff the Nautical Gods.

These were the attributes required after our maiden trip with our Siler... the engine stallled completely due to a rope in the propeller, and believe me..if you would make a knot in a rope like it was wrapped around the prop, you could be nominated as a real specialist!
Also here we renamed her before putting her in the water and making the decision to have a celebration after when we brought our Siler to her new home-port.....

Years ago we renamed a Valiant 40 using the bluewatersailing.com system. It seemed to work fine, though we did hit a whale in Mexico. Didn’t dare rename Jubilee our Mk2.

What if the name of the boat is being transfered to another vessel? Must the other vessel using the transfered name be referenced as "II" (the second?).

Very good question Bob! As the name I would like to use would be the rebirth of the name that was sold on the boat this past summer. My thought was to hide a small roman numeral "II" on the side with the name, and all paperwork would reflect the "II" as well. But that was my thought as well.
