Cutless Bearing Tool loaner - missing parts?

Greetings,
First, let me say this forum is wonderful and I'm greatful for all the information available on the Catalina 36 (which I love!) My previous boat was a 35 Pearson Alberg, a very different vessel.
Recently I received the forum's toolbox cutless bearing tool.  Hoped to complete the job yesterday, however we noticed the various size yokes that I see available in a new kit (online) were missing as well as the stackable collets. We can improvise on the collet part but the missing yoke is causing me to believe I'm unable to do this without a suitable size to allow the old cutlass bearing to slide out without obstruction.
Not having done this job before with this tool, does anyone have suggestions?
I'm happy to purchase what I need and leave it with the tool, however I would like to know what others have done in the past (if these pieces have been missing for a while).
There are 2 collets in the box but they are not thick enough for the bearing removal.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I've used the Association's tool twice thus far (actually, I think we own 2 of them), and as I recall it came with only one yoke size (since the others were for different diameters than needed for C36s).  I also remember only 2 collets.   Can you take pictures of what you have and post them?
Also, who shipped it to you (i.e., who was the immediately prior user)?  You might want to check wither her or him to see if they left anything out....

Joy,

If you've not resolved your issue yet here is the loner tool I used so you can compare parts:

Hi Mates and Matettes,

I noticed the cutlass post and pics, and have a few comments that might help you since these worked really well for us.

Since our Catalina bearings/struts are 4", it's crazy to use the long rods.  The short ones are so much easier to ship and use -- just cut it off..

It may be worthwhile to buy one extra 1" horseshoe.  When pushing the new bearing, having another 1" HS in front makes it easier to keep it centered on the strut.  Alternately, you can reinstall the collets and use the 1-1/4 horseshoe, but another 1" HS is simply easier.

We use plastic zip ties to hold the collets -- try them -- customers say they work better than the "velcro" straps.  You don't need to remove them as you push, they simply pop off.  And it doesn't matter if they get lost in the mud or snow.  We also sometimes use hose clamps when pushing the old bearing gets a little dicey.

We sometimes experience damage to the collets when the forward horseshoe isn't quite centered, or they are not centered in the strut.  Getting a 1" ID split collar and using it between the fwd horseshoe and collets works really well and has avoided ALL damage.

I replaced the SP horseshoe "cotter pins" with loose fitting clevis pins (so the horsehoes have some adjustment and don't bind onto the yokes) held by small hitch pins -- they work (I think) so much better.

Additionally, we fashioned a shipping method using the USPS Flat Rate "Large Game Box" that ships for only $17.05 (our online Endicia.com account and I believe USPS online -- slightly higher over-the-counter rates.)  That might be better than your packaging costs.

Lastly, I am a SP dealer, so if you need any parts or the 1" HS, I would be happy to get them for the Assn at my discounted cost.  Likewise, if anyone is in a real bind/time crunch and the Assn SP tool is tied up, we offer a rental of two different tools (for bearing customers only, please)  Just send a PM.

Cheers,

Compass Rose,
Sorry to get into this so late, you've no doubt   solved your problems by now.
I had the tool in December. It has two collets for a one inch shaft, one on each side. It has two yokes. One to let the bearing push out, one to push the bearing in. I added the washers with 1 inch ID so to evenly press the bearing in.
The online kits have the stackable yokes, and collets, which as pointed out are for various other size shafts. We are generally all 1 inch, not need for other parts.
Check out the great pictures, they may help you see what goes where and when.
