Sharing Survey's with Broker

We recently had an engine ($200) and a rigging survey ($350) after making an offer for a 36, We ended up walking away from the deal when we discovered a couple of issues with the vessel before the C&V survey. The Broker is now requesting for us to share the surveys with him. We do not need the survey's but I am unsure what the pro's and cons's are of giving the survey to the broker. All comments greatly appreciated!

Certainly your call, but you spent your $500 on the survey. The broker I bought my from boat tried to get me to buy a survey on the boat from a failed deal. If I was in your position you might offer the survey at a steep discount to the next buyer. You could give the Broker a verbal heads up on something that really affects the sale on the boat. The next buyer most likely would need the written survey for insurance and maybe the marina.

I also objected to have the broker have access to the survey, but I could not stop it. I was paying for the work, it is my property not the broker.

You owe the broker nothing. You paid for the survey, it's yours. However, it's your choice of what to do. Me, I wouldn't share it.

A broker's job is basically to over come objections in the sales process of selling the boat. Why expose your hand when negoiating for the boat. You are under no obligation to give the broker a detailed report on what was found .
If you really do not want the boat, just tell the broker it did not meet survey expectations and offer the survey to the owner for a reasonable price.
