Fellow sailors, after over a year of looking for the right boat and finding lot of junk this last Monday I just purchased a 1983 C-36, hull #103. We made iit to my house with the boat after little adventure of shearing off the transmission lever holding screw while waiting on a bridge on the intra-coastal. So I guess that is my first repair this weekend
My last boat was a Watkins 23 that I have now had for 33 years. One fear I had going to a larger boat
was steering lag. I sailed a Gulfstar, I think 44, previously and it was terrible, This C-36 handles like a jewel. I am now in the process of taking everything off of the boat and starting the process of inspection, repairs, restorations, and sea trials. So expect a few questions from myself as to what is what and why and how everyone overcame.

Welcome aboard. The screw shearing is rather common. If you have the original I would recommend getting the SS ones from Edson along with a couple of extra screws, hardest part is backing the sheared remains from the shaft.
