Hi, all.
We are back about a week now after 3 months cruising on our C36 through the Bahamas. Some of you were following our blog, so you know in detail where we went and what we did. It was a good time, but the ratio of effort to fun was higher than usual due to weather issues.
I want to post this for a few reasons, but mainly because I was an active participant on this forum for many years and I have not posted much at all for the past 3 months. My absence here in the forums coincided with the changes to the site and the access policy, but that had nothing to do with my lack of posts. We had limited internet access much of the time while away and I used the available bandwidth to check weather and email and post the blog.
Now that we are back, we have decided that for the style of cruising we do, having a sailboat isn't working too well for us. We get to put the head sail up maybe half the time to gain a knot or so, but it is rare that we don't have the engine on. Our boat has taken us almost 10,000 miles underway and been good to us, but the Admiral would like some better accommodations, a bigger freezer and refrigerator with better access, and I would enjoy an inside steering station for when the weather is snotty.
Basically, we have loved our boat for 10 years and now we need to move on. In case you are curious, we plan to look at power catamarans. I don't plan to abandon this Association right away, but you may not see me posting as much anymore and I just thought you deserved to know why.
Be good to yourselves and each other!

I skippered a Seasport Pacific 3200 for a few years. It was the most comfortable boat I have ever ridden in, even in three- and four foot chop you couldn't feel a thing at 20 kts. They have a lot of room inside, although just one (huge) cabin below, and lots of deck space out back and up top. Made in Bellingham WA. As the boat is just 32' x 13'6" it may not be large enough, but you might want to check it out.

Thanks, Nick. I looked at that after your post and saw that it was not really laid out as a cruising boat and it only has one engine. I am planning to get 2 engines for the redundancy.
