Lanacote for prop

Anyone use lanacote for their prop? Does it work as well as paint?

The boat yard coated the prop and the stuffing box before the stuffing box nut went on. I was not sure what this was for - but I see that I am not getting any water inside. The mechanic said that it keeps the growth down. I have not seen the prop for about a year and a half. I will have the bottom cleaned this month and I will have the diver give me a feedback. More later....

Tim -
I've put Lanocote on, and it seems to keep anything significant from growing on the prop for season (you know we're in the same waters as you); a few barnacles got on the shaft but they were easy to scrape off. I've read that paint should not be used (I can't recall why...).

What I know is the the manufacturer claims the product can be applied underwater. I have found this to not be the case. Would be interested to hear any hull cleaner reports on the product's efficacy.
