You alone determine what kinds of Google ads appear on your computer. In the upper right hand corner of each ad is a small icon called AdChoices. If you click on this icon it will take you to a (complicated) page where you can tell Google what kinds of ads you want or don't want.

I use Firefox and never see an ad at all. I do have adblock plus installed and that must do the trick.
