Hello Fellow Catalina 36'ers
Well I finally got rid of the eyebrow on my 89 36 MkI #1015, I have not liked this peice of trim since I purchased the boat 12 years ago and after the simple project I waited WAY too long.I have sent along several pics pf before during and after. 
I read several posts here on the subject and I decided to go with the blue tape instead of individual screw and beauty rings.
To begin with I had to remove a few screw and once that happened a good portion on both sides of the cabin top just pulled away screws and all.
Cleaning the years of dirt was pretty straight forward with boat soap and water. 
Once clean I hit all the screw hulls with a small counter sink (optional) then I filled all the holes with 4200 and covered with tape (see eyebrow during). The next day I came back and trimmed the excess flush and refilled any small pock marks.
I got the tape from Catalina direct. I believe this package could do both sides of the hul (which it is intended for). I had a friend do the application (she has a steadier hand than I). I think the results are fantastic!
If you have been thinking on this I have to say it went really smooth ( see eyebrow install after).
