I have noticed there have not been many posts regarding the use of PEX on the forum over the last few years, so I am looking for some updated feedback on a planned project.
We do not drink the water from the onboard system, but the goal for this project is to update the system and make as hygienic as we reasonably can.
I am planning to completely replace the original potable water hoses our boat. The water tanks are in good condition, but the original hoses and nylon fittings are brittle and showing significant internal algae growth.
I am considering a conversion to PEX A with expansion fittings rather than replacing the lines with traditional reinforced PVC hose and clamps. To minimize hidden fittings and potential leak points behind the cabinetry, the current plan is to use a home-run manifold system by the tank, with dedicated lines running directly to each fixture. The upfront cost of the expansion tool and the required mechanical knowledge are not obstacles, as I already own the equipment, have experience using it on residential projects, and likely have more than enough material on hand.
Could you please share your experiences if you have completed a PEX A conversion?

I would research how PEX handles chlorine if you perform shock treatments in the water tanks periodically. I know it is not recommended for use in pools because chlorine will degrade it.

I'm a day or so away from completing a conversion to PEX. It was added while changing the sink (thanks to Army Sailor for the suggestions!) and installing a dual stage filtration system.
The 25 year old hoses and connections well overdue for change, I decided to use PEX B with stainless steel crimp clamps. The tank valves were relocated to the silverware drawer and I added a dual stage (10 micron / 1 micron) filter and moved the water pump and strainer to where the two small drawers were below the silverware. The drawer fronts will be reinstalled on hinges.
Each distribution line has a valve in the settee that backs up to the sink and I added an anti scald mixer.
I've used PEX in houses - the runs are longer and spaces bigger so it is pretty simple. On the boat the turns are tight, I ended up using a lot of elbows in tight quarters. The clamp tool worked well in small spots too.
