I haven't had anything to say for a while but this is cool. I had some long discussions with my sailmaker at Super Sailmakers in Ft Lauderdale. I told him I wanted a Code-0 made from nylon. Short version is it would just stretch too much. So I agreed to a mylar laminate with Kevlar strings. So he had it drawn up and it came out to about 640 sq ft. I said "Bob, that's just not big enough". So back to the drawing board. I hope I attached the file correctly, it's 761 sq ft and I expect to carry it in no more than 10knts true wind from 100 to 60 degrees apparent wind.
I took delivery last week, but have not had it up yet. I do however have a coastal race tomorrow. And the best part is the forecast is 6 to 10 out of east. I will try and get some pictures if I don't get to excited and forget.

That looks big-g-g-g and it sounds like the wind will be what you need.
Why do they call it a Code Zero? Is that what is also known as a DRS which I understand means "drifter reacher spinnaker". I am fairly ignorant of sails other than white sails and the poleless spinnaker in a sock but would like to know more.
I think most of us cruising sailors prefer to make just a few sails work in all conditions in which we will sail, but the reality is that you could have numerous sails each optimized for fairly narrow wind speeds and apparent wind angles.

So here's how it went down, motored out to the start line in zero wind. Waited, start postponed. Waited, start postponed. This went on for an hour and a half. The course was to be 11 miles reaching up and down the coast. When the wind did fill in it came in from the south. The course was shortened to 3 1/2 miles and it was windward leeward. It took a little more than an hour. Never got a chance to get the new sail out of the bag.
